Ever wonder how hybrids use less fuel?

Did you know that many of today's hybrid cars can get up to 68 miles per gallon? Ever wonder how these new cars stay so efficient?

Each company is experimenting with new engine arrangements to maximize efficiency. Honda uses a smaller, more efficient 1.0 liter cylinder engine for most driving needs but adds another special 13 horsepower engine for those times when peak performance is key. Companies like Ford have equipped hybrids with special fuel cells that generate energy from deceleration. When you need that extra punch, the cells kick in the stored energy.

While the creative technologies being developed to reduce petroleum consumption are different with each company, the results are the same: a much more fuel efficient automobile.

This is such a great technology. The biggest problem used to be getting people to accept they need to do this. Now, it will be the supply of these new type cars, as there is not enough of them to supply the demand. This will make the prices of them unreachable for the average driver in the short term.
